" Immersed in Dreams, Recreating Dreams"
On November 14, our P.4 students visited the M+ Museum. The theme of this visit was "Immersed in Dreams, Recreating Dreams." Guided by a docent, the students participated in a 105-minute experiential journey. This visit was an eye-opening and enriching experience for all students.
The M+ Museum offers specially designed gallery learning activities for primary school students. These activities allowed our students to engage with the artworks not just visually, but also through other senses like touch and hearing. The docents encouraged the students to adopt a mindset of "Quiet, Slow, Feel" to immerse themselves and become part of the artworks.
One of the highlights was an installation made of vividly colored cushions stacked to form an undulating mountain range. While appearing static, the installation invited interaction, with the artist expressing the idea that while the world may seem unchanging day by day, individuals have the power to make small yet meaningful changes. Another fascinating exhibit featured 300 pounds of pure white goose feathers collected from around the world. Students were invited to step into a completely white room and fully immerse themselves, becoming an integral element of the artwork.
Through this object-based and interactive learning experience, students were inspired by the artworks and each other. The program aimed to nurture confident visual culture enthusiasts and proactive learners. The students thoroughly enjoyed the exhibition, actively participating and appreciating the artists' boundless imagination. They expressed excitement for their next visit to the M+ Museum, hoping to gain even more artistic inspiration.
