Our Mathematics curriculum includes a Primary One Bridging Programme. Before students enter Primary One, an assessment is conducted to help the school understand students’ learning needs and provide appropriate support for their transition from kindergarten to primary school.
In addition to the regular curriculum, a variety of Mathematics learning activities, such as Measurement Day, Shopping Day and Directions Day, are organised to help students learn Mathematical concepts through hands-on and authentic experiences.
Progressive assessments are conducted upon the completion of learning units to help teachers understand students’ strengths and areas for improvement. Based on the assessment information, appropriate enrichment and support are provided to cater for learner diversity and enhance students’ learning.
To nurture students with strong Mathematical potential, our school collaborates with an Olympiad Mathematics institution to provide Mathematics Olympiad training. Students who demonstrate strong performance in Mathematics are selected for further training and have achieved encouraging results in various Mathematics Olympiad competitions. Mathematics Olympiad classes are offered to students from Primary 2 to Primary 6, with a focus on developing problem-solving, inquiry and higher-order thinking skills. Primary 1 students are also given opportunities to participate in Mathematics Olympiad competitions.
Our school promotes self-directed learning by teaching students a range of independent learning strategies, including lesson preparation and note-taking. Through our self-directed learning initiatives, students are encouraged to set their own learning goals, develop good habits in learning Mathematics independently and take greater responsibility for their learning.
We also promote Reading to Learn in Mathematics. Classroom reading materials are used to broaden students’ reading experiences, cultivate an interest in extensive reading and develop independent reading habits.
Google Classroom is used as a school-based e-learning platform to support teaching and learning. A variety of teaching resources and self-learning tools are collected, organised and shared regularly through the platform, helping to strengthen students’ motivation and capacity for self-directed learning.

Primary Two Mathematics Activity - Shopping Day

The Mathematics Department held a Shopping Day for Primary Two students on 26 March. Students took on the roles of cashiers and customers and applied addition and subtraction skills in simulated buying and selling activities. Through these authentic tasks, they practised using money and giving change.

The role-play activities also helped develop students’ logical thinking and problem-solving skills. By connecting Mathematics with everyday life, the activity made learning more engaging, meaningful and enjoyable.
